Why You Shouldn’t Use Google Tag Manager for Your Jetboost Script

To ensure that Jetboost functions correctly on your Webflow site, it’s important to install the Jetboost script properly. From time to time we see users wanting to place the Jetboost script within Google Tag Manager (GTM). This article explains why using GTM for the Jetboost script can cause issues and how to correctly install the script.

Benefits of Direct Installation

  • Bypasses Ad Blockers: Since the script is not loaded through GTM, it’s less likely to be blocked.
  • Improved Reliability: Ensures all visitors have access to Jetboost features.
  • Better User Experience: Maintains full functionality of your site, keeping visitors engaged.

The Problem with Using Google Tag Manager

Many internet users use ad blockers or privacy extensions for a better, more secure browsing experience. These tools often block scripts associated with advertising or tracking services—including Google Tag Manager. When GTM is blocked:

  • Any scripts loaded through GTM will not execute
  • This means any Jetboost functionality will be broken

The Solution: Install Jetboost Script Directly in the Head

Please follow the step-by-step instructions on the Jetboost Script page found within each Booster you create to ensure Jetboost works for all visitors, regardless of ad blockers.

Place the Jetboost script directly within the <head> of your Webflow site (Project Settings > Custom Code > Head Code Custom Code Block).

Tip: You will only ever need 1 Jetboost script per website. Does not matter if you have more than 1 Booster. Jetboost will skip over this step for each new Booster you create after the first, but it's helpful to know.
